Albrecht Dürer was a German Renaissance painter associated with Nuremberg, where he was born, lived and - in 1528 - died. The building in which the artist had lived in the years 1509-1528 is located in Nuremberg as well. The house dates from the first half of the 15th century, its lower floor was built of sandstone, whereas the higher one has distinctive wooden ribbing. Previously, the house has been domiciled by an astronomer, who rebuilt his property so that he could observe the stars from its windows. Today the building houses a museum dedicated to the life and work of the author of Madonna with the Siskin.
