Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan that is located in the Kazakh Uplands. The city was built quite recently on uninhabited steppes. The profits from the sale of crude oil have made it possible to erect many modern facilities over several years. These range from the Presidential Palace with a blue dome, Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, Bayterek observation tower, National Philharmonic Hall to the Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center. The Nurzhol Boulevard with two golden towers that are jokingly called "beer cans” is the most representative part of the city.
