Tenerife is located in the Canary archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean off the north coast of Africa. Although this large Spanish island has a rocky coastline, there are many beautiful beaches. Due to the volcanic origin of Tenerife, sand on individual beaches has interesting shades – ranging from gray-yellow, red, to black one – the sand has also various degrees of fineness. Nevertheless, Playa de las Teresitas in the town of San Anders is one of the most popular places, it is a 1.5-kilometer beach with fine golden sand that was brought from the Sahara. Next to the beach lined with palm trees there is a shallow bay protected by the breakwater.
