Bellflower is a characteristic flower with hanging cups, which resemble small bells. Their size, shape and color differ depending on the variety, however, the flowers are usually small, navy blue or blue, sometimes pink, purple or white. They occur in the northern hemisphere, nevertheless, half of the population of that beautiful plant can be found in Great Britain. This is due to the favorable climate – bellflowers grow in old forests, where the soil has been fertilized by rotting wood for centuries. Such forests are the most common in the British Isles, particularly in Scotland. What is more, bellflowers are strictly protected in the United Kingdom.
