The first written records concerning the village of Bibury in England date back to the 11th century. The village owes its characteristic landscape to the architecture from the 17th century. Honey-colored stone was the basic material used to construct the buildings there. In the 1980’s the Arlington Mill museum was founded – presently there is a private residence. The building of the local court that dates back to the first half of the 17th century is currently the largest edifice of Bibury. The village hosts the horse riding club which has operated since 1693 – today it is the oldest club of this kind in the world.
