Panorama of Bratislava at night (Slovakia)
Bratislava is the capital and at the same time the largest city of Slovakia. It is the metropolitan center of Bratislava-Trnava-Nitra agglomeration. The capital’s location is not very typical, as it is located on the south-western periphery of the country, far from its centre. Such a location may seem unfavorable, nevertheless, thanks to it Bratislava may have partner relations with two other European capitals – Wien and Budapest. Bratislava is not only the seat of the state authorities but there are also many institutions of international importance. What is more, the city is an important cultural, economic and political center.
