Bridge and the television tower on the Daugava River (Latvia)

The capital of Latvia, Riga, is situated on the Daugava River. The banks of the river are spanned by four footbridges, including a railway bridge with characteristic arches. The city also takes pride in the 368.5-meter Radio and TV Tower, the third-highest such facility in Europe. Its location on the island of Zaķusala on the Daugava River is noteworthy. The futuristic 13-storey building of the New National Library, also known as the Castle of Light, is located by the river. The facility was opened in 2014. It was designed by Gunnar Birkerts.
