Calligraphy is an art of careful and aesthetic writing. In the twentieth century it was still taught in schools at an early stage of education in order to shape children’s patience and to teach them how to use the pen. Today calligraphy is an art of decorative handwriting, which is often richly decorated. Among the tools used in calligraphy there are nibs, but also traditional tools such as properly prepared bird feathers or sharpened sticks dipped in ink, brushes and modern utensils, such as marker pens, fine-tip felt pens or gel pens.
