Venice is located in the northern part of Italy - the city is sited on the archipelago of 118 islands on the Adriatic Sea and is divided into six districts, the so-called sestieri. The mainland is intersected by a network of 150 small and bigger canals, residents and visitors to the city can move around Venice by water, e.g. using the Vaporetto water bus, motor boats, barges or gondolas that are popular among tourist. The edges of the narrow canals are spanned by small bridges. Traditional urban houses were built over the water - colorful façades with wooden shutters are decorated with flowers.
