Canyon in Abisko National Park (Sweden)
Abisko National Park is located in Sweden, close to the village of Abisko. It was established in 1909, just after the first environment protection laws were passed in Sweden. The park has got two main goals: scientific research and preserving the natural state of the northern territories of the Nordic countries. The first of them is being realized by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, which does biological, geological and environmental research. The second - through protection and making accessible the local landscape for visiting. The landscape is dominated by rivers and streams, which wind picturesquely in the canyons. The Abisko National Par is an important tourist attraction of this part of Sweden.
