Castle in Spiez (Switzerland)
The Swiss town of Spiez is located in the canton of Bern on Lake Thun. The 10th-century castle is its landmark and also the most valuable historic monument. The building was erected on the initiative of King Rudolf II of Burgundy and until the 18th century it was repeatedly rebuilt and expanded. Today the castle is available for sightseeing and it houses a museum. The picturesque surroundings of the building and its immediate surroundings - flowered castle garden, well-kept courtyard with a stone well and a charming chapel – are also noteworthy.
