Chanterelle, otherwise known as girolle, is a popular macrofungus. It can be found in both coniferous and deciduous forests. Chanterelles are distinguished by their exquisite taste and aroma, therefore they are very popular among gourmets. These golden mushrooms taste best when they are shortly fried in butter or stewed with garlic and parsley. They enrich the flavor of soups, pastas and casseroles and meat dishes. Chanterelles brought from the forest should be thoroughly cleaned and rinsed in order to limit the risk of crunching sand spoiling our joy of food.
