Chittor Fortress (India)
Rajasthan is a state located in the northwest of India. The famous fortress city of Chittorgarh is located there, it dates back to the 8th century. The fabulous Chittaur fort, currently visited by hundreds of tourists, has a long history of invasions and sieges. In 1303, the fortress was besieged by the Sultan of Dehli who fell in love with the princess Padmini who resided there. The woman and her companions committed ritual suicide. The fortress is located on a nearly 200-meter hill and covers an area of over 700 acres, i.e. nearly 300 hectares. The complex of buildings is dominated by a 9-storey tower of Vijay Stambh, from which there is a view of the entire city.
