The late medieval church of St. Nicholas is one of the most important monuments of Nexø, a town on Bornholm. The white temple surrounded by a sandstone fence is the oldest building in the area, it has a characteristic timbered tower crowned with a copper spire. Initially there was only a modest chapel, however, the church was expanded when the town grew larger. Visitors to the church cemetery may find ancient gravestones of granite and sandstone, as well as an anchor-shaped monument commemorating fishermen and sailors who died at sea.
