Bali is an island belonging to the archipelago of the Lesser Sunda Islands. One of the tourist attractions of the island is a beautifully situated temple of Pura Luhur Uluwatu, located on the edge of a steep cliff. It was dedicated to the spirits of the sea and it has existed is in this extraordinary place since the tenth century – now tourist can visit mostly ruins of the temple complex. The cliff on the coast offers stunning views of the rough waves of the Indian Ocean. What is more, it is inhabited by semi-tame long-tailed macaques that approach tourists. The cliff’s surroundings are particularly loved by surfers.
