Gerberas are decorative plants of the Asteraceae family. They owe their name to the German botanist, Traugott Gerber. They occur in dozens of varieties, in a warm climate it is primarily a popular garden plant. In Poland gerberas are grown mainly in greenhouses and are sold as cut flowers, usually as a bouquet element. There is also an annual miniature variety that grows in a pot or balcony. Inflorescence of gerbera with a lot of petals of a tongue-like shape resemble big daisies. They come in many beautiful shades.
