Colorful houses in Porto (Portugal)
Porto is located on the Atlantic Ocean in the north of sunny Portugal. The history of the city dates back to the 5th century, originally there was a Celtic settlement. The center of Porto is situated on the hill called Penaventosa on the Douro River. The city is full of historic monuments and there is a well-preserved medieval quarter, which used to be walled in the past. There are typical Mediterranean buildings in Porto – narrow tenement houses with colorful facades, balconies full of flowers and strings of drying laundry. Climatic, narrow and colorful streets are the pride of the coastal district of Ribeira.
