Colorful houses in the town of Sighișoara (Romania)
Sighișoara is a small town in central Romania, known primarily for its well-preserved medieval buildings and is one of the main landmarks when visiting the country of Dracula. Although Romanians are proud of Sighișoara’s medieval monuments, the town was founded by the Germans, who were invited to these areas by the local lords. The settlers from the west were supposed to settle vast wasteland, as well as bring new technologies of farming and crafts. German craftsmen were so numerous in Sighișoara that they built the defensive walls themselves.
