Before taking an important test of exam many people have sleepless nights revising material. Sometimes we nod off when going through the books, even though we have drunk a lot of coffee or energy drinks. Scientists who study how the human brain works as well as the mechanisms of acquiring knowledge claim that it is not the best learning strategy, although very popular. Brain does not like boredom and needs various incentives – for that reason learning should be enriched by physical activity. Sleepless nights does not influence well on memorizing information and searching for it in our memory later on. Therefore, if we nod off while studying it means that we should put the books away till morning – well-rested brain will work more efficiently and will master the information much quicker.
