Dried fruits
Fruits were dried as early as several thousand years ago in the Mediterranean regions. It was meant to make storing of the fruits possible so that their lasting. At first natural methods of drying were prevailing (using sunbeams). Today fruits are dried in an artificial way by heating them up. Dried fruits are recommended especially by dietitians, who glorify their nutritional values. Such fruits contain, among others, fiber – which has large influence on the gastrointestinal tract, monosaccharides – a source of energy during increased physical activity, protein, lots of vitamins and mineral salts. Dried fruit are more and more often used as a snack, instead of peanuts, crisps or salty sticks.
