The oldest excavated painted eggs came from Mesopotamia. Eggs have symbolized a new life and abundance for centuries and played a significant role in rituals concerning fertility. In Christian Europe Easter eggs are associated with Easter. Eggs are painted mainly by children, who use eggs to decorate houses and particularly tables. Shops offer a lot of ready-made decorations in the shape of Easter eggs, even sweets the colors and patterns of which can be easily associated with Easter eggs.
