The tradition of painting eggs is today commonly known all over the world. Easter eggs have become a significant element of the popular culture, creating Easter atmosphere in the media and public space. The tradition of painting eggs is not new – archeological research has confirmed that eggs had been significant for ancient cultures, e.g. Sumer, ancient Greece and Rome. Only later they were incorporated by Christianity as a religious element of Easter custom.
