Ferrara is the Italian city located in the northern part of the country on the Po River in the Emilia-Romania region. There are Renaissance fortifications and the Castello Estense castle with impressive ramparts in the city center. Ferrera is an important tourism and scientific center. The university was established as early as in 1391. In the neighborhood of the main square there are a lot of charming narrow streets, e.g. in the Jewish district. It is possible to move around the city on foot or by bicycle, as Ferrara is the city full of bicycles. After a walk through bricky corners of Ferrara it is worth having a meal in one of numerous trattorias – family eating-houses, which serve regional dishes.
