Ruins of the fortress in Stari Bar (Montenegro)
Montenegro lies on the Adriatic Sea. The largest seaport in the country is located in Bar, a popular tourist resort on the Bar Riviera. There are ruins of a medieval fortified castle situated nn the hill, in the old part of the town. The stone remains of the former fortress were converted into the amphitheater and museum. Many of the historic buildings of Stari Bar were destroyed during a powerful earthquake in 1979. Some of them dated back to the Roman times.
