Fortress in Chocim (Ukraine)

Building of the fortress on the rocky bank of the Dniester river lasted over 50 years and was finished in 1380. Prior to that there were wooden fortifications throughout two centuries. From the very beginning the place had a turbulent history; it was attacked many times, captured and the fortress was reconstructed and extended. At present the castle is considered to be one of the Ukrainian seven wonders.
