Koblenz is a medium-sized city located in the western part of Germany on the two major rivers - the Rhine and Moselle. On the confluence of the two rivers, where the Moselle flows into the Rhine, a triangular headland was created. This is the so called Deutsches Eck, i.e. German Corner, one of the most recognizable landmarks in Germany. A large and impressive statue of William I – the first German Emperor, was erected at its center. From the top of the monument visitors may admire a beautiful view of the old town and the confluence of rivers, as well as the Corner itself, which resembles the bow of a ship.
