The Gotthard Pass linking the valleys of the rivers Ticino and Reuss, is located in the Swiss Lepontine Alps. Crossing it is not very difficult as the pass is located at a relatively low altitude of 2108 meters above sea level. The pass is the main communication line connecting the northern and southern part of the country. The pass can be crossed by bridges and road or rail tunnels. There is also a picturesque old trail in the shape of hairpin bends, which is now frequented mainly by cyclists. Driving along this road will take more time, but the difficulties of the journey will be rewarded with amazing views.
