Tuscany (Italian: Toscana) is the region in central Italy, with the capital in Florence. It is divided into ten provinces and two hundred eighty seven communes. Tuscany is dominated by highlands. The region is a historic one and it was originally called Etruria inhabited by the Etruscans. Today Tuscany is the centre of farming and light industry as well as olive oil and wine production. There are picturesque villages and charming towns with green landscapes which attract tourists who look for relaxation and nature.
