Snow-covered peaks of the Alps with the towering Grossglockner (Austria)
Grossglockner is the highest peak of Austria and measures exactly 3798 m above the sea level. It towers over the Central Eastern Alps and the Pasterze glacier. It belongs to the so called Crown of Europe, that is the group made of the highest peaks of all European countries. It was reached for the first time in 1800. On top of the Grossglockner there is the Kaiserkreuz – “Emperor’s Cross” that weighs 350 kg.
