Hammock is a very simple and functional kind of “bed”. It is usually made of fabric, rope, or netting, suspended between two points. It is assumed that hammocks were developed by native inhabitants of Central and South America for sleeping. The protection from venomous reptiles and insects is the main advantage of hammocks. Thanks to suspending it at a certain height such intruders have no access to a man sleeping there. Hammocks had been brought to Europe by the first explorers of America and soon after it was used as a bed on ships in order to maximize available space. Today hammocks are mostly associated with relaxation, holidays and beautiful weather.
