Gingerbread has some amazing qualities, thanks to which it can serve not only culinary functions. It is soft after baking, but in the course of time it hardens without losing its unique aroma. It also becomes a bit crispy and is a perfect material for the production of Christmas decorations. Cookies in the shapes of stars, snowflakes, bells or hearts should be prepared a bit earlier, so that they could harden properly before Christmas. Then they can be decorated with the use of colorful fillings or hundreds and thousands, they can be also painted. However, it is most important not to preserve them with any varnish – first of all, it is not necessary; secondly, it could spoil the cookies’ Christmas aroma.
