Traditional hard disk uses rotating disks coated with magnetic material in order to store data. The first hard disk drive had been produced in the 1950’s, however, they were consumerized only in the 1980’s. Initially, the capacity of the hard disk drives was limited to a few megabytes. The hard disk drive that was based on rotating magnetic disks has been replaced by the solid-state drive (SSD), which contains no moving mechanical components and uses flash-memory solutions.
