Lutheran cathedral in the centre of Helsinki (Finland)
Helsinki – the capital of Finland is inhabited by over a million people. It is located in the south of the country on the coast of the Gulf of Finland. A few islands located nearby are also within the borders of the city. The Lutheran cathedral built in the neoclassical style is one of the main historic buildings of the city. It was built at the beginning of the 19th century and was financed by Russian tsar Nicholas I. Today most of the visitors are not the worshippers but tourists. The place hosts not only religious ceremonies, but also concerts and various cultural events.
