Galveston is a city in the US state of Texas located on an island on the Gulf of Mexico. One of the main attractions of the city is the historic district, where the Victorian-style buildings are located, they have bright colorful porches with railings and pastel facades. The Bishop's Palace is particularly loved by tourists. In 1900 the city was hit by a hurricane, in result many historic houses were destroyed. Nevertheless, Galveston has kept its characteristic atmosphere of the old southern United States. Historical residential buildings have been carefully restored.
