Historical map and a magnifying glass
Old maps are real works of art. Even if they are not precise and misleading, obviously when taking into account modern cartographic standards, they delight with the intricate painting. Their reproductions are a popular pattern of multi-piece jigsaw puzzles, pictures or posters. For historians and astronomers, however, they are primarily an important document, on the basis of which one can reconstruct the state of knowledge, theories and ideas of scientists several hundred years ago. The first, schematic plans of the immediate neighborhood were already drawn in the Paleolithic. Maps that are several hundred years old are extremely valuable relics.
