Iguazu Falls are in the central part of South America, on the river of the same name. They are situated on the border between Argentina and Brazil, which runs right through the largest of the waterfalls, the Devil's Throat (Spanish: Garganta del Diablo). According to the Indian legend about the creation of the waterfalls, the son of the chief, named Toroba, stood on the bank of the river to pray to the gods to restore the sight of his beloved. In response to Toroba’s request the earth parted, and the young Indian was kidnapped by water falling to the bottom of the ravine. Nevertheless, his beloved regained her sight and the first thing she saw was this gorgeous waterfall.
