Riomaggiore is a picturesque village located in the Italian region of Liguria. Due to its location, the village looks as if it literally grew out of rocks. Colorful houses “hang” in layers over the cliff’s edge and they nicely match the intensity of green and blue water in which such species as whales and dolphins occur. Via Colombo is the main street of Riomaggiore. The village is famous for the production of local white wine. Together with four other villages, Riomaggiore is the part of the Ligurian rugged portion of the coast called Cinque Terre. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park.
