Buoy is a large object anchored or floating freely on the water, serving primarily an information function. Buoys can mark the place where fishing equipment or potentially dangerous objects are located, signal the entrance to the port and set a shipping route. JAS buoy painted with vertical red and white stripes is well-known among amateurs of sailing along the Hel Peninsula, it has a characteristic sphere at the top, i.e. a sign of the so-called safe water. The buoy also informs about approaching the port in Jastarnia.
