Pécel is a traditional Indonesian dish based on rice or rice cake with different, usually vegetable toppings. Boiled soya and bean sprouts, water spinach, green beans and cabbage served with tofu or other soya products and spicy, aromatic peanut and chili pepper sauce. Shrimp crisps, papaya leaves and rice or soya noodles are commonly added to this dish. Pécel is willingly eaten in Java, it is sold in elegant restaurants as well as in crowded streets.
