Jodhpur is located in the south-western India, in the state of Rajasthan. The city is situated on the border of the Thar Desert, and its name refers to the blue facades of its oldest district. The houses in the Blue City were painted blue for a reason. The blue color was supposed to deter vermin, which used to be a real problem for the residents of hot Rajasthan. The Mehrangarh fort built on a hill towers above Jodhpur. The Umaid Bhawan Palace is also considered to be a tourist attraction of the city.
