Boat in Kirkjubour (Faroe Islands)
Kirkjubøur is a small settlement on the Streymoy Island that belongs to the Faroe Islands archipelago. In the Middle Ages this small village was a town and an important port. Later the town lost its significance, but its decline was mostly caused by the storm, which in the 16th century destroyed most of the houses. The Faroe Islands, located on the North Sea between Iceland, Great Britain and Norway, are the Danish territory.
