Kiwano in the company of other vegetables and fruits
Kiwano is a vegetable that belongs to the gourd family. This unusual tropical plant comes from Africa and attracts attention with intensely orange fruits. It is called the horned cucumber due to its hard skin with spines and green, refreshing pulp with seeds that are characteristic of cucumber. The kiwano’s taste and aroma is reminiscent of banana, melon and kiwi. It is an ideal ingredient of both sweet and seasoned dishes. Thanks to its spiky shell, kiwano – like decorative pumpkins – can be used as a garden or kitchen decoration.
