The Lech river flowing through Austria and Germany is the right tributary of the Danube. Its source is located in the area of the Lechquellen mountain range in the Bavarian Alps. Lech is also the name of the commune in the Austrian federal state of Vorarlberg. Areas located on the river are known primarily for ski resorts, crowded by winter sports enthusiasts. One of them is located in the medieval village of Lech am Arlberg. The church of St Nicholas with an onion-shaped dome at the top of the 33-meter tower is its landmark.
