Lighthouse on the Loop Head Peninsula (Ireland)

Loop Head Peninsula is located on the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the River Shannon in the Irish county of Clare. It is renowned for its dramatic cliffs. At the tip of the peninsula there is a lighthouse and the lighthouse keeper's house, which offers accommodation to tourists. The present building was erected in 1854, according to the design of George Halpin. However, the light signals have been emited from this place since 1670. The lighthouse is 84 meters high and its stark, white structure contrasts with the green slopes of the cliffs. The whole neighborhood of the lighthouse abounds in the breathtaking scenery.
