Most of big cities have large areas of blocks of flats. Thousands of families live in these large residential complexes and such large estates have their own infrastructure, shops and services. Despite the fact that grey tower blocks made of concrete slabs and rows of identical, often quite old blocks of flats are not a dream location for many of us, however, due to the low price and proximity of the center as well as an easy access to work, a lot of people decide to buy or rent an apartment in a block of flats. In Europe, there are many unified districts with multiple-dwelling buildings. The largest complex of blocks of flats in Prague, Czech Republic, is Jižní Mesto. The largest district in Slovak Bratislava is called Petržalka, whereas in Germany there is a residential complex in the Berlin district of Berlin-Marzahn. Most of these construction projects were built in the 1970s, however, due to the continuous urban development new blocks of flats are built nowadays. The modern district of Koguhovo in Moscow, which is dominated by impressive tower blocks, may be mentioned as an example.
