Christmas is one of the most important holidays in the Christian calendar. It is usually celebrated in a family atmosphere, whereas a meal consisting of traditional dishes and drinks is an important element of the celebrations. Since Christmas falls in winter, warming drinks such as dried fruit compotes or heated alcohol are served in the north of Europe and America. In some regions it is grog, but most often wine with the addition of citrus fruits and spices, which not only add flavor to the drink, but also warm up the body in winter evenings.
