National Palace in Sintra (Portugal)
Sintra is located near Lisbon in Portugal. The city has magnificent monuments, some of which remember the Moorish times. Among the most important buildings in Sintra there are the Castelo dos Mauros, fairytale-like palace Pena National Palace with the surrounding park, as well as the National Palace, i.e. Palacio Nacional de Sintra. Two white, conical chimneys are a distinctive feature of the palace. The National Palace was the residence of the Portuguese rulers from the 15th to 19th century. Today it houses a museum. Sintra is surrounded by picturesque hills and forests, and it has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
