One of the largest mosques in Central Asia, which can accommodate up to 5,000 worshipers, is located in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. Nur-Astana temple is visible from afar thanks to a huge, golden dome, which is 40 meters high and surrounded by four 64-meter minarets. These numbers are not random as the first one is the age of the Prophet Muhammad when he received the revelations and the other is the age of the Prophet at his death. The mosque was built in 2005 and is the official gift of the Sultan of Qatar for the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev.
