Bruges is frequently called the “Flemish Venice” due to the network of canals that flow through the old town. Nevertheless, there are many more similarities to the Italian city of lovers – Bruges is equally beautiful and full of magnificent historic buildings. Bruges differs from Renaissance Venice too – visitors to the Flemish city may admire one of the best-preserved medieval old towns. There are also some similarities to Paris as Bruges is equally romantic, full of charm and offers idyllic atmosphere. It is also worth noticing that the Belgian city is much smaller and for that reason it is much cozier than the capital of France, which is an additional asset for many people.
