Old Town of Basel (Switzerland)
Basel is a Swiss city lying where the borders of Switzerland, Germany and France meet, making it a diverse and unique place. The history of the city dates back to ancient times, but the oldest buildings in the city date back to the Middle Ages. The most majestic is the church built on the Cathedral Hill consecrated as early as in the eleventh century. This red sandstone temple is a beautiful monument of Romanesque and Gothic art. Car traffic is forbidden in the Old Town, so that tourists may safely stroll along its narrow streets and admire historic architecture.
